For years, my life revolved around iron. Powerlifting platforms, strongman competitions, personal training clients and meticulously calculated nutrition plans were my domain. I thrived in the structured environment of the gym, pushing my body to its limits and achieving impressive feats of strength. But then came: motherhood.
Suddenly, my world shifted. The roar of the crowd was replaced by the gentle cooing of my baby. The smell of iron replaced by the sweet scent of baby powder. My focus turned from maximizing protein intake to minimizing screen time. This transition, while incredibly fulfilling, brought with it a new set of challenges.
As a fitness professional, I was deeply concerned about the impact of environmental toxins on my growing family. From the chemicals in our cleaning products to the pesticides lurking in our food, I realized that creating a truly healthy environment extended far beyond the gym.
This realization sparked a new chapter in my life – a journey towards non-toxic living. It wasn't about drastic overhauls or deprivation, but about making small, sustainable changes.
We started by swapping out our conventional cleaning products for natural alternatives. We embraced organic produce and explored local farmers' markets. We prioritized playtime outdoors and limited screen time. We even started a small herb garden, bringing the power of nature into our own backyard.
This journey has been a constant learning process. There are days when I feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information and the seemingly endless list of things to change. But I remind myself that every small step, every conscious choice, makes a difference.
Today, I embrace the title of "Crunch Mom" – a mother who prioritizes both fitness and a healthy lifestyle for her family. We workout together, we cook healthy meals together, and we explore the world together. And while my journey may have taken an unexpected turn, I've discovered a new kind of strength – the strength to create a safe and nurturing environment for my loved ones.
This blog is a space for me to share my experiences, offer tips and resources. I believe that even small changes can have a profound impact on our health and the health of our planet. Let's embrace this journey together and build a healthier future for our families.
